Information for Consumers…

Pure maple syrup often conjures up memories of a Sunday morning breakfast, a stack of pancakes or waffles sitting in the middle of the kitchen table, and the sweet aroma of the syrup warming on the stove.

There is truly nothing better than pure maple syrup with that special breakfast, but don't stop there… Maple syrup and sugar can add a special flavor to many dishes and can be substituted for sugar in many recipes, or try a traditional Vermont favorite like "sugar-on-snow" or maple candy.

Pure maple syrup is available at many outlets throughout North America, and beyond. Many sugarmakers also sell their products from their sugarhouses, homes, or at roadside stands and farmers markets. For Pure Vermont Maple Products, check out
"Maple by Mail" and "Public Maple Open House Weekend". State maple sugarmaker's associations, departments of agriculture or university extension services can help you find producers in other northeastern states and provinces.

Maple Syrup Grades…

"Fancy, Grade A Medium Amber, Grade A Dark Amber or Grade B… What do I Choose, and why can't I find Fancy Grade maple syrup made in other states?"

For someone unfamiliar with Pure Vermont Maple Syrup Grades, it can be confusing. Vermont does have different grades and slightly different standards than some other states, and both are different than the grades used by Canadian producers.
